The social discount rate for energy is a form of financial aid for vulnerable people, so that they can meet the costs of energy for thermal uses (heating, cooking, domestic hot water...).
IMPORTANT NOTE: The recipients of the social discount rate for energy are all those who have been beneficiaries of the social discount rate for electricity as of 31 December of the previous year.
The requirement for access to the social discount rate for energy is to have been a beneficiary of the social discount rate for electricity as of 31 December of the previous year.
- Registration in the municipal register: The contract holder must be registered in the dwelling where they receive the supply. They must be registered in a municipal register in Catalonia.
- Amount:
The aid per beneficiary will be paid in a single annual instalment, into the current account from which the electricity bill is paid by direct debit.
The minimum amount of the aid is €35, but it can reach up to €372 depending on the following criteria:
- The beneficiary’s degree of vulnerability: consumers in a situation of severe vulnerability receive a higher amount.
- The climate zone where the beneficiary resides: areas with colder winters receive more aid to cover the increased heating costs.
